Major Mike Evans
(United States Army Retired) After serving thirty years active duty, primarily in Special Operations assignments, Mike retired and was selected to activate the JROTC program at Las Vegas High School in 1993. His military assignments include combat tours in Vietnam and the Middle East and assignments in Korea, Europe, the Far East, Central America and Fort Bragg. 1st Sergeant Nels Nelson (United
States Army Retired) Retiring from active duty in 1993, following a tour in Hawaii, Nels joined Mike as one of the original JROTC Instructors as Las Vegas High School. Ranger qualified, his assignments included Airborne, Ranger and Pathfinder units at various locations. 1st Sergeant Christopher Simmons,
Sr. (United States Army Retired) After more than twenty years active service, Christopher retired and joined CCSD in the Bonanza HS Army JROTC program where he taught for seven years. In September of 1999 he joined the ROTC program here at LVHS. He served as Drill Sergeant, in Infantry leadership positions, and as an Instructor at the Military Academy at West Point. Sergeant Major Nathan Wright (United States Army Retired) Army Instructor Sergeant Major Wright has twenty-Eight years of Service, including several Overseas assignments Such as Germany, Kosovo, Kuwait, and Korea. He Served as a Drill Sergeant, Senior Drill Sergeant at Fort Knox, and Instructed several primary Leadership courses, he also served as the Brigade Operation Sergeant Major with 2nd Infantry Division in Korea. This was Followed by four years as the Senior Enlisted Instructor at Texas A&M University. Sergeant Major Wright Joined Wildcat Battalion as of 5 September 2007, as the Sergeant Major of the Army JROTC department at LVHS.
